ICT in Healthcare -

A major challenge for the
Health Service in Ireland is to complete the Electronic Patient Record
(EPR) in each Hospital, Clinic and GP Surgery. The EPR will eventually
replace the bulky physical Medical Record which contains paper based
records, X-ray film, etc.
In parallel better
electronic communications and integration of information
between the various stakeholders needs to be implemented. This will
eventually lead to the "holy grail" which is to link all the providers
of
Health care with an electronic architecture which will enable any
citizen’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) to be available securely
wherever the need arises e.g. Hospital, GP, at Home, while travelling,
etc.
ComputerScope decided to investigate the current state of play, please
see the
following PDF.
