St.James’s Hospital deploy Business Intelligence Solution

Efficiency in the Health Services

The recent announcement of the new Health Strategy in Ireland has brought even more attention to the subject of making the Health Services more efficient.

The complex structure of the health services, the increased demand for better health, the pressure on existing resources and the pace of technological change within this sector makes the objective of greater efficiencies a massive challenge. For clinicians, management and other key personnel to adequately meet this challenge they need good information at their fingertips.

Some Health Care organisations are meeting this challenge head on by implementing Business Intelligence solutions. These solutions are based on state of the art software technologies, implemented by specialists who understand information technology and the health services. These solutions will integrate easily with existing applications and databases.

St.James's Hospital in Dublin, the largest teaching Hospital in the Republic of Ireland, has recently deployed such a solution, DI-Atlantis from MANITeX.

The initial project has covered two main areas of the Hospital's management information requirements: 1) Central management information and statistics function, and 2) The Emergency Department.
